Metalco for the Sistine Chapel

Rome October 2014

In the year of its thirtieth anniversary, Metalco has had the honor to collaborate to the renovation of the facilities of the Sistine Chapel. The company has contributed with his Corten steel panels to cover the technological systems on the roof of the Holy Chapel.

In the southern facade of the Sistine Chapel, it was necessary to create a structure in galvanized steel (fixed through chemical anchors) to allow the accommodation of new ventilation channels connecting the Air Treatment Units with the windows of the Chapel:

to minimize they visual impact of these channels, then, they have been covered with Corten steel plates.

It has been an important contribution to the works, which involved the cooperation of other multinational companies such as Carrier and Osram, making the realization of this project possible in order to protect the frescoes with optimum control of temperature, humidity and noise.
